Year-ending: 2014

By Dean L. Jones

This is the last article for 2014, which included a portion of the nearly 150 dangers associated with consuming processed sugar.  We attempted to raise awareness on the importance on living sugar alert and thanks to PACE News we were able to share fifty-two weekly articles summarizing some serious processed sugar dilemmas that we all face.

For one, consuming processed sugars detrimentally suppresses the body’s immune system.  The flu and cold season is serious and a weakened immune system is unable to fight the new strains of viruses and the ability to defend against bacterial infection (infectious diseases).

This year we highlighted where processed sugars can bring about hyperactivity, anxiety, difficulty concentrating, and crankiness; particularly in children.  The large number of foodstuff products sold are packed with processed sugars, which typically target marketing campaigns for children.

Eating processed sugars can lead to a wide variety of illnesses as simple as acne all the way to cancer.  Science has proven that sugar can cause pancreatic, gastric, biliary tract, bile acids in stools and bacterial enzymes leading to colon/rectum cancer [Note: processed sugar is the worst enemy to bowel movement], gallbladder, lung, prostrate, breast, laryngeal, stomach, bladder, and even cancer of the small intestine and/or the ovaries.

Processed sugar interferes with the absorption of calcium and magnesium that are vital to good health.  A strong reason why processed sugar can cause premature aging, or in some people it is attributed to alcoholism, gout and/or the formation of kidney stones.

As processed sugar eliminates calcium from the body at a rapid rate, it can cause arthritis and osteoporosis.  Likewise, tooth decay is of course a huge issue along with obesity that stems from too much processed sugar.  Americans are highly exposed to consuming it and consequently are increasingly suffering more from acquiring the risk of Crohn’s disease, and/or ulcerative colitis.

Recurrently, 2014 SugarAlert! articles explained the dangers of heart disease brought about from processed sugar that is fully supported by the American Heart Association.  In the same way, we shared how processed sugar can cause hemorrhoids, varicose veins, periodontal disease and insulin sensitivity.  It can even decrease growth hormones and at the same time increase bad cholesterol in the body.

High sugar intake can cause food allergies, contribute to diabetes, and make our skin age by changing the structure of collagen.  Processed sugar is known to bring about eczema in children, and cause cardiovascular disease in adults.

Living SugarAlert! is a realization reflecting on how excessive intake of the processed stuff will increase the body’s fluid retention that can cause headaches (including migraines), and affect the brain’s ability to deal with rewards and consequences.  That is mainly due to its addictive properties, where people commonly display signs of fatigue, moodiness, nervousness and depression, no different than those we have seen intertwined with substance abuse.
