Diet Sodas Add Weight

Diet Sodas Add Weight
Dean L. Jones, C.P.M.
Quality living does not include arthritis, asthma, mental illness, obesity, hypertension, and/or diabetes.  Even though the mortality rate for cancer has decreased by 17% since 1950, the lung cancer death rate for women alone has risen more than 500% over the same period.  All the while, the food and beverage industry is working feverously to have us consume their respective stuff faster and more of it.  But, are they to blame for the illnesses? Product makers like to make stuff that hits our taste palate trio, consisting of fat, salt and sweet.  Most often, food producers maximize the sweet taste to capture the largest audience.  Unfortunately, the sweet satisfier used too much is aspartame, the most dangerous substance on the market.  Aspartame is a chemical compound, accounting for over 75% of the adverse reactions to food additives reported each year to the Food and Drug Administration, including seizures and death.  Science reports that diet sodas containing artificial sweeteners increase a craving for sweets, distort appetite, and even damage brain cells.  Especially aspartame as when it is ingested will often and routinely cause dreadful reactions in the body, which is why some want it banned.  There are researchers and physicians studying the adverse chronic illnesses effects it triggers or worsens such as, brain tumors, multiple sclerosis, epilepsy, chronic fatigue syndrome, parkinson’s disease, alzheimer’s, mental retardation, lymphoma, birth defects, fibromyalgia, and diabetes. Aspartame serves to replace processed sugar that everyone understands to be a serious obesity maker.  However, nearly every low-calorie product sold uses aspartame as a sweetener including soft drinks, chewing gum, dessert mixes, puddings & fillings, frozen desserts, a variety of yogurts, tabletop sweeteners, mouthwashes, some vitamins & sugar-free cough drops,  breath mints, cereals, flavored syrups for coffee, flavored water, frozen ice crème novelties, fruit spreads, gelatin, sugar-free hard candies, iced tea, instant cocoa mix, jams & jellies, juice blends & drinks, maple syrups, mousse, no sugar added pies, nutritional bars & drinks, pudding, soft candy chews, sugar-free chocolate syrup, sugar-free cookies, sugar-free ketchup, table top sweeteners, and even vegetable drinks. Although a lot people do not even know why or how they are getting sick, as ingesting aspartame causes people to have headaches/migraines, dizziness, nausea, numbness, muscle spasms, weight gain, rashes, depression, fatigue, irritability, tachycardia, insomnia, vision problems, hearing loss, heart palpitations, breathing difficulties, anxiety attacks, slurred speech, loss of taste, tinnitus, vertigo, memory loss, and joint pain. Mainly, it is something about those diet sodas being extremely deceptive beverages.  Drinking them can actually be putting on the pounds versus taking them off as desired.  Particularly those aspartame-filled products without a doubt have a direct effect on causing poor health.  For that reason, beverage producers that use it should add the Latin phrase on the label, ‘Caveat Emptor’—let the buyer beware.
